Glutathione Skin Lightening

What is Glutathione and what does it do to the body?

Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that inhibits the formation of free radicals. It is a natural antioxidant that is produced by your liver. It repairs damage caused by stress, pollution, the sun, radiation, cigarette smoke, etc. It plays an important role in detoxifying our bodies while supporting the immune system.

The highest concentration of Glutathione is found in the liver and is the main antioxidant of that organ, making it critically important in the detoxification and elimination of free radicals. Our bodies make its own supply but it doesn’t make enough. Glutathione levels decrease as the body ages.

Glutathione – the Mother of all Antioxidants

Glutathione is commonly known as the Mother of all Antioxidants. Glutathione is the single most powerful antioxidant your body produces and recycles. It’s made in the liver, the organ most responsible for detoxifying your body, so optimal liver function is absolutely essential.

High doses of Vitamin C will also boost our natural glutathione levels and inhibits the enzyme tyrosinase. By doing this, less melanin is produced. Vitamin C repairs skin damage after sun exposure and also acts as a mild exfoliant. By getting rid of dead skin cells, which contain melanin, the skin becomes smoother and lighter.

Glutathione’s Role in Skin Lightening:

Glutathione reduces melanocytes which produces melanin. Reducing the melanin in the body would make your skin fairer. It also helps determine the balance of light and dark pigments (pheomelanin and eumelanin) in our skin and will take up the oxidative damaged cells (which cause skin to darken) and lighten your skin naturally and safely.

Skin colour comes from a pigment called melanin. The more melanin is produced, the darker your skin gets. Many things can increase the production of melanin, such as UV radiation, smoke, sun exposure, estrogen imbalance, some medications and pollution.

A person taking Glutathione should take Vitamin C. This is to keep Glutathione in its reduced form and will release the potential of Vitamin C’s derivatives lightening properties. The lightening process starts in the dermal layer (inside the skin) working its way to the surface in the epidermal layer.
